finished up a Bamboo backed Jatoba
« on: October 19, 2007, 10:58:09 am »
Build most of my boo bows with osage but thought I would try some thing different  while I was waiting to get some more osage. The bow is 66" ntn and draws 47#@28" mild deflex reflex with deer antler overlays

Some real craftsmanship here.  Any chance of a full draw so we can consider it for backed bow of the month for Oct?

Thats a beauty, I have had mostly good luck with jatoba, the last board I bought I got 4 bows out of and they all fretted badly. That looks like a sweet shooter.  Steve

I will get some full draw pics posted this afternoon. I made three bows with the Jatoba. Two were 66"ntn and they came out perfect. Tried another one at 64" and it fretted about 3" up from the fade on the top limb. It was fine untill I got it to 28". The limbs are 1 1/4 at the fades tapered to 5/8 at the tips then I tapered the last 6" to 1/2
