Conversion bow
« on: January 29, 2013, 08:01:38 pm »
I need to make a bow for a friend who cannot right now pull a 40 lb bow to his draw length. So I plan on building a bow that will be 30 lbs and I can later shorten, recurve, and heat treat to make the 40 lbs at his draw length without actually making another bow when he is ready for it. Just a neat project I thought I would share with you guys, and see what yall think of it.

Seems like a good idea to me. Let us know how it works out. Reminds me of the bow I recently made for my nephew. That kid goes through bows like I eat doughnuts! ;D I finely made him a bow that he can keep growing into. And by the time he's pulling 28", it'll hit just over 40#, so he can hunt with it.

Half eye just made my son a Molly with the same idea in mind. He can draw it to 24" now, but it is tillered out longer and can "grow" with him. Excellent plan.
