Big skinner and sheath.

Here is a knife I started on before I had my injury.The knife is 11 and half inches long,the handle is 4 inches with spalted maple scales,brass pins,the blade is 7 and a half inches long and a inch and 5 eights wide.I made some buckskin a year ago and got Rebecca Parker to make me a sheath for it.That is one beautiful sheath she made for me with rawhide,buckskin,quill work and fringe,Makes that knife look pretty,She does beautiful work.

Looks like French influenced roach belly scalper.  That's a beauty.  I'd be more than pleased to carry that knife with me during historical re-enactments. 

For that matter, I'd be happy cutting up meat and veggies in the kitchen with that baby.  Looks like a danged useful tool.  Unlike me, just a tool.

Thanks Keenan,JW and Pappy.You hit the nail on the head JW,I wanted something from the trade era,I like those type of knifes,I like a big knife anyway.

Beautiful work on the knife and sheath.  That quillwork must take some real patience, maybe even more than bowyering? :)

Thanks Graylan and Cameroo.The knife was made out of an old sawmill blade it is 3 sixteenths thick,and Rebecca sure did do a beautiful job on that sheath.
