Ring Chase help

All right all you Osage vets, I need some advise. I am prepping a stave for a friend. Being a rookie, I don't want to screw this up (he is an accomplished bowyer). I've removed the sapwood and sealed the ends and back with poly. I've resealed the back after each session of wood removal. I'm almost down to the best rings and having never worked osage before, need an opinion on which one to shoot for. I'm thinking the second ring down, but am unsure. Whatcha think?

I have made a lot of bows on rings as thin or thinner than the one your on. But the second or third one down looks great to me

either of the two i marked would be desirable rings, those are decent thickness and should be easy to chase! I haven't worked osage, but from what ive gathered, the thicker the ring the more wiggle room you have, plus they look more consistent than the one your on now

If you count the one your on as #1, go to #3.  Some good lookin rings deeper down, but the crown will increase.

Thanks duck! I suppose I will. If I violate it, I can just scoot down to the next one. Hope I don't run out of rings and end up with a big pile of mulch!

I'd go for the third. the only reason I go for the thicker rings is so I can round the back out more around the handle

I don't chase a thick ring. If its thin oh well. I take the ring right under the sapwood.

That is some beautiful osage. Like others have said, that 3rd one down.  And if you dig through that, the 4th will work just fine  ;).  Man, that looks nice! 8)

I'd go down with the third one too. It is the first one with a relatively even growth ring.
