Hey ,
I want to say thanks to everyone for the bow building help the last couple of years, and have a new novice question.
I just finished cutting out basic shape and rasping down the belly of a hard maple board bow.It has a walnut riser and will have walnut tip overlays.
My question is ,I noticed a 1" hairline split at one tip near centerline and I need to know if I add a silk backing and 2" walnut overlays if the split is ok left alone ,or should I cut off 1" at each end and shorten bow .
Its only 62" now for my 12 year old grandchild.
Thanks again and please reply,
