56" Black Locust Molly Curve
« on: January 04, 2013, 06:18:24 pm »
Heres number 3....a 56" ntn black locust molly curve with a 40/60 ratio. Its 50@28"...11.9 ounces mass weight....slight bendy handle...osage tip overlays....hemp wrap handle(love those)..a hair under 3" resting reflex...and it has a funny woopdy doo in the bottom limb. I tillered this one out when ryoon came out for an eve visit of bowyering fun. The wood was cut by Bob(hunterbob) and I back in march of 2012 behind his house...well Bob..i deem this some pretty good locust so far to take that kinda design ....sorry this one wasn't very photogenic....nuff said...here she is

one more to go fellas

I'll take it.

It looks like you just have the heart wood there, is that something you'd normally do or is it okay to use the sapwood as the back of the bow?

I've got a big BL stave thats been dring for close to a year that I should probably pick up soon.  :)

did you steam bend those tips or use dry heat?
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...

Greg it shoots fast enough for me ;)

Bubby black locust is prob my second favorite wood,n this is a good example why :)

Christian..yes its all heartwood, and in the majority of situations it is best to chase a heartwood ring with black locust

I can't stop Paul ;)

Richard the curves were bent with dry heat...thanks
