Looking for a selfbow?
« on: November 10, 2012, 01:54:24 am »
I a complete newbie to this, so not sure of all the terminology and associated stuff. BUT im looking for a bow. I have been on website after website, and all im finding is fancy fancy bows. Just looking for a plain old(well new actually) stick and string.
I have a longbow that I have played with for a while, just looking for a new toy.

plain wood(osage, hickory) NOT backed with snakeskin), 55#ish draw.  arrow shelf(not sure if thats the term, my longbow doesnt have, just shoot off my hand) 60ish inches long(or somewhere in that ballpark.  SO im taking suggestions, websites, bowyers.  Not looking to spend a bundle, but not looking for the bottom of the barrel either.

you should add what draw length you have. Its important so people can closer fit your needs

Come visit at Twin Oaks, we'll help ya build one.  All it costs is effort and the price of the stave.   :)

I think jon has a great idea. Its better to be able to build your own bow because of how rewarding it is. I will say, however, i think if you really dont have time for that or you just cant afford to spend the time driving or something then it may wind up being easier for you to have someone build(or previously built) a bow that you can trade for.

Plus if you build it for yourself, it's YOUR bow, so you can have it any way you want!

Don't know your true draw length, but these two are in that poundage range, and just plain wood. I just finished em several days ago. Send me a pm if interested
