Finished Hickory.
« on: December 27, 2012, 03:00:13 am »
Here's my Hickory bow that i made with the help of Pinecone  ::) ;D.
Stats:
weight? at 29"
64"ntn
This bow has a wiggle that moves its string right of center(making it even more off center for a righty) There was a splinter lift so i filled with superglue and wrapped with sinew, putting tb2 on it for waterproofing and then wrapped that all up with thread to hide the sinew. The handle is wrapped with lace that Pinecone gave me, and if i had to guess the weight i would say its 50# @ 29"

Edit: this bow has about 2.5 inches of set, yet i still think it will kill a deer no problem.

Great lookin bow muffin! Your tiller looks dead on. The hickory looks a little darker than most hickory Ive worked with, did you stain it?

Good job muffin. Keep at it and you can teach Brycey boy a little something one day.

Handrubbed multiple coats of Tru-oil is still my favorite finish, as far as looks goes.  I've just gotten too lazy to do it anymore.

Nice bow, Muffinman.  Nice indeed.

That's really nice. I wish hickory grew in WA, but i guess then again Ocean Spray is pretty much it's counterpart.

How does it shoot? Do you like the weight? I'm sure it has a smooth draw with that tiller. Goood job!!

Zion, It shoots like a dream, compared to all my other bows. The draw weight is a bit stout but ill get used to it. It has a very smooth release, and is very accurate, what i see is what i hit kind of bow.

I as of yet still have to go and look for wood, i will do that in the future sometime, goal woods would be VM, OS, Cascara, Yew, Elm, Ash, Oak, ect.
