New hafting
« on: December 26, 2012, 12:49:05 pm »
I recieved this beautiful balde(Burlington I think) from Stringman in the Christmas Exchange. With Scott"s permission I hafted it to a Cholla handle yesterday. I think it came out pretty good. I used pitch glue, sinew wrap and sealed the hafting with pitch varnish.
This blade is quite sharp and will make a good skinner. Here is my new knife...

You skin that smoke wagon and we'll see what happens!---Are you gonna do something? Or just stand there and bleed?

Thanks Scott and everyone else. Scott, my part was simple compared to the flintknapped blade you made.  ;)
Whats a good knife without a good sheath. WillH sent me a few heads in a trade a few weeks ago and they were wrapped up in this piece of brain tanned. It just happened to be the perfect size for a sheath for this great knife so I whipped this up. I was gonna use real sinew stitching but decided to use artificial sinew instead. I use art sinew for most of my leather stitching these days anyway.

It all looks good, Pat. I wish I had it with me to use this week skinning a hog with the rest of the Parker clan.
