Was wondering if anyone knew how to make damascus steel? or would it be more economical to just buy some damascus steel billets?

It is quite a bit of work to forge damascus. Basically you layer two differnt grades of steel and forge weld them together. Once they are welde3d together you begin the folding process. Unless you are set up with a forge and all the tools it would be much easier to buy it. Take a look on Paleoplanet.net. Lots of info in the metal working threads if you want to give it a go.
