easy string

can someone show me the easiest was to make a bow string ? i have some hemp string and was hoping to make it out of that, the string is for a kids bow so it doesnt have to be very strong.

You'll want the artificial sinew that is polyester (Tandy is one source). It's the same material as Dacron (B-50). All Dacron is polyester (not all polyester is Dacron - it's a Brand name). The art sinew that is nylon is not good for bowstrings because it stretches too much.

a real easy way is to cut a pc 30' long and put the two ends in a vice, then take a drill with a cup hook in the chuck and spin it to the right till it starts to kink, then take that end and put it in the vice with the others, then spin the other way til it starts to kink, take a pc of leather or a glove and rub some bees wax in it real good, tie a loop in one end and use a bowyers knot in the other, Bub
