FSU Spear

My friend is a huge FSU fan and I would like to take a shot at making him a look-a-like spear like the one planted each home game by Chief Osceola. I am curious as to how I can make the feathers that adorn the spear shaft stand straight out as they do. If anyone has a clue or idea that could help me figure out the best method of attaching them,I sure would appreciate it.

Watch your Mouth Eddie >:D   Dem Gators is just lucky we have a horrible coach that wont play call aggressively.   

as far as making the spear.  I never payed that much attention to it, but I imagine there are holes drilled in the shaft and the quills glued in

All them Gaytors need to pack up and go back to Gay...nsville where they belong and then I will note to not come and visit. 8)  I take 19 to Trailor-hassee anyways, not 75, I will be clear.
