Great lookin bow Keenan! Can't wait to see the rest ;) I was wondering the same thing Matt was. I used my Ol stand by spar urathane on that yew of mine. Did you use polycrylic?

Thanks Guys. It'll be a few days befor I get her completed. Need to sign and do a couple more coats of finish, then the handle wrap. The finish is minway high gloss polly

Minwax Polyurethane? Or the water based minwax polycrylic?

Very nice Keenan, that wood looks a lot like bearded yew with all the pins in it, wood turners like the pins for character.

Cody What I've noticed is it tends to be in the larger and older trees that are in good snow elevation. I think what happens is the small branches try to start growing and the snow pack and ice breaks them of each year when they are small twigs. You will often see 6-8 feet of branchless trunk  But not always the case I have cut some that was smooth and consistant and another 100 feet away that was roller a coaster surface
