Osage for Yew
« on: November 27, 2012, 11:13:33 pm »
If anyone's interested I would like to trade stave for stave. I've never built a Yew bow and plenty of Osage. If this sound good I can post pics, I've got good straight, or snakey or some with the bark on or off. All is at least a year old

What do the ends look like?  I might be able to work something out with yew.
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso

Here are the end cap pics. The first is tight ringed and I've been working on it . It is the 64" stave. thr other two are the 70" ones with medium, I would say :-\, I've also included a pic of middle on the staves one is wide enough that you may get two bows depending on design.
