went out tonight, all i saw was the spike i bounced off of the other night and he wasn't having any of it.  stayed at about 40 yards the whole time he walked around me.  oh well.  woulda had him with wheels.  but what fun is that.

The deer are really starting to move with this weather change,I saw 13 yesterday, bumped 4 on the way in along with 8 Turkey and seen 9 more from the stand. They were all does as far as I could tell.I haven't seen a good buck so far this year but the way the does are moving it is just a mater of time, now seeing them and getting a shot is 2 different thing but you never know.
Just need to spend as much time in the Woods this time of year as you can.You can go from
0 to hero in just a few seconds.I am off all next week so I plan on being out there all I can stand. ;) :) Good luck to all.

I decided to try something different yesterday and it was a hoot.I set up behind the house
where I have been seeing a good buck the last few days.No buck but at about 6pm I had a big doe and button buck come in,I wasn't planning on shooting them so I just set still. The button
just feed around in front of me at about 10 yards as did the doe. After a few minuets the big
doe seen something she didn't like and came right in on me looking, she was no more than 3 yards
facing me and I just set still she looked for a minute and went back to feeding. It was so cool.I had on a sent loc leafy suite  and the wind was out of the west so she didn't smell me.They
finely feed on off,no buck yesterday but I may give it another try today. The wind is supposed to be from the N/W today so that should also be good.I haven't hunted there in years or on the ground in years at least not on purpose so it was fun for a change.I thought I would give the farm a break from the kids last weekend and get ready for next week.I am off all week so I will stay there wit 3 buddies from Ohio. :)

That close encounter had to be exciting at 3 yards! I went yesterday and saw a doe and two fawns. Doe was not bigger then the fawns.

Went yesterday afternoon, and saw the same two does and a fawn as Wednesday. This time I was in the right stand though. I shot at the doe without a fawn at about 12 yards or so. I don't know if I shot high or the doe ducked, but I ended up cutting her across the top of the back. A second arrow at 18 yards fared no better, she ducked and I only had some hair on the shaft. Agony of defeat!

My bow is making a sound like the shaft slapping up against the handle, but I can't see how...I've got a piece of leather that the arrow should be against during the shot.

Greg, I've noticed if I get sloppy with my release I get arrow slap on my bow.
You are getting plenty of action. I try to shoot low, especially on spooked deer.     Pat

i picked up a new property last week. scouted it this morning. didnt have the slips signed yet so i left the bow in the truck and just scouted it. stalked over a rise and saw a nice 6 pointer. decided to stalk closer to see what i could see. got within 20yards of the bugger and he started walking to me. took my knife off my hip incase he got to close. he was so close i thought about sticking him if he came closer cause i figured he would of kicked the crap out of me if he realised i was there.  ;D

I hunted Saturday morning and passed up about a 10 yard shot at a spike. Went over to the club after hunting Saturday morning with a hornbeam stave in hand. Laid the bow out and roughed it in with bandsaw. Saturday evening back home hunting behind my house was uneventful...no sightings. Laid in Sunday morning, then went back to the club. Got the hornbeam bow thinned down and Pappy and I put it on a form to reflex and remove some minor propellor. Pappy was tillering on another osage bow, he was past brace with it. I laid out another bow from the remnants of the hornbeam stave I had which was a good size one. Used Pappy's dimensions he wanted, and then roughed it in and gave it to him. He's never made a hornbeam, always gave the staves away before he had a chance. I told him I wanted him to finish this one. It should make a good bow...the tree was cut in May of 2005. :)
