Some new arrows
« on: November 25, 2012, 02:22:42 pm »
Whipped these up over my Thanksgiving break. 5/16" poplar, 400 grains, made for a 40#@22" Osage shortbow. Hand cut 6" fletching from some feathers I got from Fred Arnold. They fly real quick and straight out to around 15 yards. Sorry for the crappy pics it was sleeting out.  ;D

Thanks. I used Fiebings black leather dye to stain the shafts. It is my personal favorite stain for arrows and bows.

Very nice arrows. Mind telling me where you get your leather dye?

Lookin good Jon, but I might wrap the nocks too.  Just for safety.  dpg

You can get leather dye @ shoe stores and hobby shops and some hardware stores too.

I used to wrap the nocks on all my arrows, but one day i said what the heck, I have some good thick ringed poplar shafts, and I think I'll skip the wraps. That was a few dozen arrows ago and I haven't broken a nock yet. this poplars some good stuff.  ;D
