is there a detailed set of instructions for building one like the one from LOTR?  i would almost be willing to pay for a set.  i need a project that would require patience and concentration for a while.
i love the sounds it makes.  sounds like it would break.

Ha, most of us are trying to make our bows quieter. I take it you're not a hunter.  :P

hahaha my thoughts exactly but it would be cool to know how they did that, computer editing perhaps?
PRIMITIVE ARCHERY what other way can you play with sticks and rocks all day and not look like a little kid

Every time i shoot at a bunny i recall the wise words of Elmer Fudd "I've got you now you waskally wabbit!"

ya it always cracks me up when i watch movies and it seems they ALWAYS have some kind of creaking noise when a bow is drawn. If they wanna be realistic, the archer should be flinching every time he draws.  Of course i guess orcs were expendable and were too dumb to be bowyers so maybe they didn't care ::)

I don't guess it's to big a deal if your bow is a little creaky when you're surrounded by 10,000 screaming orcs....

One does tend to doubt that archers who fired from amazed formations at massed formations worried about noise from the bow. A warbow and a hunting bow are two very different things.

You will get that sound by making a bend through the handle bow and putting a handle section on the belly that is not glued, only wrapped with sinew or rawhide....

Stack a couple of layers of wood and put some dry chrometanned leather between and lash the two layers together. That will creak nicely.

Remember that creaking noise old Shwartzenpickles' bow made to kill the predator in the Predator movie?
