Jasper Dovetail
« on: November 11, 2012, 04:05:36 pm »
Not my best point ever :-[ but I is out of really hard, heat treated Jasper from Alabama. I just got done cooking some on Friday night. I cooked it under a wood fire for about 8 hours.  these yellow cobbles take a lot of heat to get kinda slick and turn red. I have just a few really slick pieces to use, but I figured I'd practice on one of these grainier pieces first. All abo tools of course, Made a decent atlatl point.  hope to get some sharp little hunting points and maybe a couple bigger display pieces, but man this stuff is hard.
