If a mulberry tree has been dead and down for a couple years and is dry, is the wood still good? I don't wanna cut a piece off only to find out that its no good.

The only way to know is to cut some of it and split it to see what it looks like. The bark and sapwood will probably be eat up with bug tunnels and fungus but the heartwood might still be ok. Ive heard mulberry is pretty rot resistant but dont have much personal experience with it myself.

Ok, ill keep an eye out for that when I go check. If the wood is good then I might have a pretty sweet stave hook up. The guy who owns the property has no idea what he has, he's been chopping up and using it as fire wood.
