Fox hunt

Today I got my first fox with a bow, 48# bow (made by John Halverson) and a flint point on the arrow.


It was maybe all of a 5 yrd shot and I got a good lung shot on him.  He done a few spins and when about 10 feet or so and was done for.

Nice!!  I've never even gotten to full draw on a fox.  They spot the movement every time.  That's quite an accomplishment.  Should make a beautiful quiver.

Very nice harvest! That is tough to be that close and not get detected. Send the meat to JW and maybe he can make some sausage >:D

I was standing when I made the shot, the arrow is just resting on top the fox in this picture.

The foxes around here must be pretty dumb, or curious, he didnt seem to worried about my presence.  The fox around here are every where, after a fresh snow you can see their track all over the village.

What was the weather like up there in Noatak when you shot the fox, Kyle? 

I'm glad to know the bow is getting something of a workout from you.  Didn't you mention that you had some problem with the finish?  If you bring it down to SD again next summer, I'll make it right.  Especially if you will allow me to borrow that tillering shovel again.  Never worked a bow belly with a shovel before but it was the duck's nutz for the job!   >:D

It was about 5-7 degrees F out and calm and sunny and it preformed flawlessly.  You are more than welcome to use my tillering shovel any time you would like.  :D

Thanks!  I happened to be showing off my cold steel shovel to John and he thought that he would give it a go at shaving down one of his staves and it worked quite well.
