Well this morning was not what I had been hopin for. Went out last night and was seeing some moving around so I hoped it would carry over into this morning. When I climbed in it was cold, blustery, and wet. I had no confidence in seeing anything and was severely tempted to walk out and get some coffee. That's when I noticed this little guy eating his way down the hillside.
He first walked thru and I missed low, but it wasn't hard to call him back and soon he was walking back by and this time my arrow was true. I couldn't make myself wait more than a few minutes and I was checking his exit route for sign.
It was quickly apparent that my hit was lethal and so I relaxed and enjoyed the trail. It has been 2 years since I was able to pull this off and I couldn't have been more grateful for the opportunity. As I was nearing the creek I was tempted to cut straight to the crossing and find him in the water. Instead, I stayed on his trail and found him right on the rim of the bank.
After pulling him into position, I felt totally honored to live in the place I do. I took a little extra time saying thanks and enjoying the scenery.
As Pappy says, life is... well... good!
