Shes a beauty!
« on: November 03, 2012, 01:39:54 pm »
Hello fellas been a while. Thought I would post a bow and a few arrows to look at.
This is a 54.5" osage sinew back recurve and five dogwood arrows I just finished its appx 48#@25" I painted it with northwest costal designs in the style of one of the Reginald Laubin bows thats in the Spurlock Museum. I think it turned out very well, the dang paint job took almost 9 hours and made me cross eyed at times!  :-\ Feel free to comment!

Great bow!  The paint really sets it off.  Nice cresting on the arrows too.

Love everything about that piece of art. Great job. Do you have a good source on-line, for different native art?
Thanks, Graylan

Thanks guys.  :D
Graylan as for a online source you can do a web search for Native American collections or museums and do a search through their archives and collections. Thats the easiest way to find historical material that I have found.
My favorite bowyer is Reginald Laubin who studied Native bows and really bows of the world in general. He made various types from North America and other regions of the world Including the turkish bows that were so famous for distance and quality craftsmanship. He published a great book on the subject.

Nice execution on a classic design.  The paint job rally makes it pop!
