ALL STAVES ARE NOW TRADED, thanks!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time to do some serious cleaning out of my stave room...,
. I have did my best to get every detail of each stave down, but if anyone is curious about a certain stave, please let me know and I will send you some more pictures or dimensions if you want. To keep this thread from loading for 3 hours when you open it up from all the pictures, I have just made photobucket albums of each individual stave that you can click to see a picture or pictures of each stave. The two honey suckle staves are Amur Honey Suckle, (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonicera_maackii). If anyone is interested, please send me a private message, thanks!
Hackberry staves: [/b]
Some of these staves I have already layed out, and was going to make a bow, but never got the time, or just never got around to it, etc. It is all just pencil, and can easily but erased or sanded off:
Also, some of these staves are pretty hefty, if you want me to cut one down a bit to save on shipping, just let me know,
.

SPOKEN FORLength: 80 1/8"
Width at top Limb: 3"
Width at bottom Limb: 3 7/8"
1/4" Reflex
Notes: This stave is perfectly clean for about 70", but had a tiny bit of wood rip up on the back for the last 10" or so, which I took some pictures of. There is really nothing stopping you from making pretty much any kinda bow you want from it, but I still thought I would document it.

Notes: This stave is deflexed a bit. I was planning on making a reflex defex out of it, but never got around to it...

SPOKEN FORLength: 75 5/16"
Width at top Limb: 3"
Width at bottom Limb: 3 1/2"
2 5/8" Reflex
Notes: This stave I nicked a bit (just a tiny bit) with the draw knife when removing the sapwood. Nothing that calls for any ring chasing or backing, but I have since sanded the nicks out for the most part, which is why there is a big sanded section of it.

There is still enough to chase a ring, but the handle will not be too deep. The second two staves are narrow and heavily crowned, and will only make d section longbows, or very narrow bows.
Stave 1
OSAGE STAVE 1 IS SPOKEN FORLength: 751/2"
Width at top Limb: 2 7/8"
Width at bottom Limb: 3 1/4"
Depth: 1 1/2"
5/8" Reflex
Notes: This stave had a bit of side checking on the upper limb, so I removed the wood that was checked on the side. This caused two narrow spots, but nothing under 2". I took some pictures for to show what I'm talking about...

Length: 70 5/16"
Width at top Limb: 3 1/4"
Width at bottom Limb: 3 3/4"
Depth: 2 1/4"
5/8" Reflex
Notes: This stave is also very crowned and narrow, and will only make a d - section longbow, or narrow bow as well. This bow also has some checks on the sides of the bottom limb, which I highlighted in marker and took pictures of so show them better. This stave would be great for a longbow, but it will
not make any other bow.

Length: 75"
Width at top Limb: 3"
Width at bottom Limb: 4 3/4"
3 1/4" Reflex
Notes: This is a cool stave. When I first cut it the sapwood was so thin and dark I couldn't tell if it even had sapwood or not. I was stoked, I thought I had found the legendary sapwood-less mulberry! Later after it dried out I could tell it had a very thin sapwood, less than 1/4". I believe it must of been some kind of decease or something that made it grow so thin and dark like that. As well, it is very dense for mulberry, which is usually light, and the rings are very thin.

I do not own a tool that can work this wood, it is incredibly tough, and I work osage with a dull wrap all the time. I wanted to try a longbow out of this stuff, but no matter how sharp my tools are, it just kicks their butt. So yall have been warned,
. The bellys have checking all the way down to the pith on both pieces, (which I have taken pictures of). I am not sure how deep that is, but I would guess that they both would still yield a deep d section longbow. And the shorter one would definitely give you a nice reflexed flatbow. The last stave is a silver maple stave.
