First Arrows
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:07:16 pm »
Here are a half a dozen arrows I made.  I made 3 to practice with and 3 to hunt with and I have to say they shoot really well.  I am very pleased with bamboo as an arrow shaft material, I have spied several shoots along the road home of various plants I will have to harvest and give a try.

Really nice, especially for your first arrows. Like the taper on the back of the blades, it will make for easy removal. Looks like some real killers. Good luck this season.

Man, i really like the look of those, they have that no nonsense killer look, my next fletching well need to be white with turkey. I am looking forward to days of straightening boo shafts over a candle once the snow comes...

Nice arrows!  I like the trade points too.  Looks like you fashioned them after the razorbacks.

Thanks for the complements, the trade points I did not make I bought them from 3 Rivers Archery.  I filed a single bevel edge and honed them to a razor sharp edge then sanded the black coating off with 220 grit paper.  That is why there is all of the black stuff on my work bench.

wow!  Those are saweet!  If those are your first arrows, and they fly as
good as they look, then you will have no problem keeping a batch of quality arrows
ready for the hunting season, and for practice!  Nicely done!

You need a sanding block it helps to sand your shafts a lot rounder while takeing off the high spots.
