This is the first white oak bow I've made. Like kenny I cut this oak after Howard recommended white oak as a bow wood. Stave is from a
approx. 4" dia. tree I cut and split in Mich. a few months ago. Interesting wood to work with, had about 1/2" natural deflex and I deep
heated in about 2 1/2" inch of reflex after floor tiller. Retained about 1' reflex when all done and shot in plus it springs right back to that one inch reflex practically right after shooting and unstringing. Made this for a 30th birthday gift for my son in law Richey, his first bow.
Last pic is of Rich with his bow on his and my daughters beautiful new nine acre spread, (I see possibilities for a real nice target range).
The bow; 58" ntn
48# @ 26"
The new owner; great father of two, great husband to my daughter and all around nice guy.
