I live in lower Bama all I can find around here is tallahata quartz.  That stuff is incredibly hard!!  I might have to make a trip a little farther north to see if I can find some jasper, that would be really cool.  But yes bow season for deer comes in Oct 15th :).  Its currently Rabbit and Squirrel season and of course Hog hunting is permitted year round.  Got a front coming through Saturday night so Sunday should be a perfect day for some hunting!!
