Tiller check HBM (update see bottom picture)

Hi all,

I am making a hickory backed massaranduba (aka bulletwood, beefwood). I am aiming for 45# @ 28''. It's a pyramid bow with a stiff riser, I have had some problems in tha past with risers popping off so I you have tips on how to tiller this on please let me know.

My last hbm (posted pictures back then) does stack a bit, I want to have a vey smooth draw on this one.

I am interested what you think of my tiller at this point

All your bending is at mid limb, more on the left limb than the right.

Make yourself a tillering gizmeo and straighten that puppy out.

I made on of those tillering gadgets a while back  guess i need to make some cuts in my tillering stick so I can keep the bow under tension while i use the tillering tool,..

Is it o.k. to keep the bow under tenison for like 5 or 10 minutes? Doesn't it induce set?

Hi all,

I have been using the tillering tool and I think I made some good progress. The tool is very usefull but it's hard to use a the fades...

Do you guys think that the bow needs to bend more at the fades? I don't want the handle popping off

Would really like to hear your opinion....

Yup I think the fades are tooooo long and the central 1/3 isn't bending at all. Even with an eliptical tiller, the inner 1/3 should flex a bit.
Inner arrows indicate grip, outer ones show where fade could end (IMO)
