Man that looks like tough stuff. You seemed to show it who was boss. Nice point Jamie. Can it be worked with copper boppers? I think I've found some red quartzite.

Thanks guys. Wood seems to work best on grainy material. I think you would need a heavy platform with copper. Give it a shot.

Post it up vine. Love seeing alternative knapping material. We have a long going discussion going on paleo about wood and man-rock. Pete Davis is knocking out some incredible pieces with antietem quartzite and cacapon. Others are working with argilite, dolomite, rhyolite, and basalt.

Jamie, great lookin point on some tuff material, I watched Steve Nissely tame some hard lookin argulite with a pc of wood at the ridge. He made it look easy :o :o.

When working quartzite, I prefer to pick a flake that already looks like an arrowhead and call it good.

Thanks again guys. Got loads of this stuff to play with. Just did a customers fireplace over with this stone and it killed 4 diamond blades on my saws. Very nasty stuff!!

That's impressive! I'm hardpressed to get obsidian to work right at times.  I am nowhere near manly enough to tackle that stuff!  Josh
