hickory-backed hardmaple pyramidbow...

hi everybody! - here are some pictures of the finished bow from former thread:
http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,3224.0.html
the bow came out nice and shoots great; developed one fret while shooting her in, but no further frets after several hundred arrows at a 29" pull.
the bow is 68" ntn, 45#@29"
the stain is a mixture of red and brown leather and wood dyes, the handle and arrowpass are dyed rattan wrappings.

at the nocks the bow is 3/8" tapering to less then 1/2" at the very end of tip; guess these can be called needletips...
below are unbraced and fulldraw pics after tillering was finished.
thanks for watching,
frank

Nice tiller for your first pyramid bow frank. Overall looks to be a solid bow. Wouldn't worry
to much about one fret.

Nice settup you've got there Frank!! Good looking bow! Like that stain work you did on it and the handle section - makes it look a coupa hundred years old (I like that look!). That fret would make me nervous though - looks like it might deserve a patch before it heads south on ya
. Somebody way more experienced than me may have a different opinion, hope it's not that bad

Hickory is pretty heavy backing for maple, likely explaining the fret. Nice lines and curves.\\\Dave

Really nice looking bow!! Love the stain job, real nice. Like the way you darkened the handel area and faded out to the limbs.

That's a terrific bow! Those are pretty much the dimensions of what I intend my first bow to be. Great work
wish it was mine!

I also like the handle, looks really sharp medicinewheel, the dark stain looks great, I always have a hard time choosing a stain for maple.

thanks guys!
well i used a very thin hickory backing; only one 5th of the maple's thickness! but anyway i guess i put on a patch of wrapped rawhide to protect the spot!
