can the color of hide glue tell weather its strong or week...john

If your referring to the section on glue Tim Baker wrote yes I quess.First pour etc.I use Fredrix canvas sizing.It comes out amberish brown and it works for me.Some people like knox gelatin.I guess the lighter the color the stronger.Over heating it is a no no and turns it darker and weaker they say.I keep it at about 115 degree F.Never over 120 F.It'll curl your sinew very quick.

Used to make my own with sturgeon bladders, now I just use knox gelatin. Work all the same.

well i am cooking some and it looks a little murky or cloudy ...i thought it would get alot darker...john

i got done cooking the glue and it come out alot darker..so i think it will be good...NOW,i am just wondering if i have enough..has any one mixed glues...john
