Going bowfishing in the morning
« on: September 12, 2012, 01:14:21 am »
I'm going primitive bowfishing in the morning.  Well, somewhat primitive.  A friend is taking me out on his boat.  We are hitting some backwaters of the Ohio river.  Seabass gave me a bowfishing rig and I can't wait to try it out.  I picked up a fiberglass fishing arrow and fletched it up so I'm ready to go.  I haven't been bowfishing since 1998.  I was 1 for 1 that day until we flipped the boat.  Hopefully that doesn't happen again.  I'll be using the osage bow I made at the Classic this year.  I'm hoping to get my first primitive bow kill with it.  I'll take the camera in case I get lucky.  We are going to try to catch a few catfish also.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Have fun and be safe pal.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Got skunked.  Didn't even see a fish to shoot at.  No bites on the poles either.  We did catch a ton of baitfish with a cast net.  There were baitfish everywhere.

I did enjoy the day.  I saw a lot of water birds and it was nice to just be out on the water.    Thanks for the floaters Chris

We did see a few ducks and some guys goose hunting.  I don't know anything about goose hunting, but I don't think they were doing it right.  They had their boat tied to the river bank about 30 yards from the decoys.  They were sitting on the bare bank in lawn chairs holding their guns.  I thought you had to camoflauge yourself in so the geese wouldn't see you.  We never heard any shots.
