Aand B side ???
« on: September 05, 2012, 06:52:32 pm »
Why do points seem to always have an A+ side an a B(bad) side or am I starting to become to anal. If I would have found this point in the field I would have been so overwhelmed, but I consider it an just a better than my average point but not a truly great point, 3 yrs ago this would have been an A+++ point. Had one miss hit and stepped dead center an couldn't ever seem to get under it, I guess that is why I love knapping so much, always room for improvement whether your a 6 yr knapper or a 30 yr master, kinda like Zen. :o Thanks for looking and comments are welcome. later Bob

Great looking point Bob! The B side gives it character. Don't be too hard on yourself ;)

Its the nature of the beast I guess. I can't tell which is A & which is B. Nice blade.

Looks real good to me, Bob. I always have one side where the rock seems different then the other.

looks excellent bob. im going backwards with every point and its on purpose. i like the roughness of a really primitive looking point or blade. aside from a few high end authentic pieces most real points have broad flake scars from percussion and light pressure scars on the edge from dressing the edge.

Are you kidding? I'd settle for either one of those sides on my best day. It looks great! What is the point sitting on?

Steven, the point is sitting on a pc of hornstone right where the spall for this point came from. I got the hornstone from Erics Morrison at the Flint Ridge Knappin, Thanks for the comments.  Bob

Awesome point/blade Bob!!  So cool that it came off of that spall too!  Man you kept it a good size, must have been a real nice flake.  Horn stone has become my favorite.  I like the way it flakes and it's local for me here in Indiana.  ;) Great job Man, dpg
