This is a bow I made a few months back. I waited to post it until after I skinned it. I waited to skin it until I had shot a couple thousand arrows thru it and I was sure it was worthy of the only two real nice copperhead skins I had. I did'nt want to waste them on just any bow. I wanted them to go on a bow I knew I would use alot and would last a long time.
I harvested the wood near the Shoo fly creek in southern Sumner county Kansas, about 3 yrs ago.
The skins were harvested very near my house by two different neighbors that know I am always on the lookout for nice copperhead skins.
The tools used were chainsaw, sledge and wedge, drawknife, bowyers rasp, cabinet scrapper, chainsaw file and sandpaper. The finish is 5 coats of tru oil. The skins are glued on with TBII.
The dimensions are 52#@27". It is 60" tip to tip. approx 1 3/8" at the fades with a taper to the tips that are a little less than 3/8" at the shoulders of the nocks. The tips are very mildly flipped with zebra wood overlays.
Although it has around 3/4" of set when unstrung, its well balanced in the hand. It shoots smooth and really spits an arrow. I'm pleased to share it with you all and hope you like it. Danny
