Turkey Bow
« on: September 19, 2007, 01:49:35 pm »
I want to build a bow for turkey hunting next spring.  I'm thinking about a selfbow 58" to 60", 27" draw @ 45#- 50#.  Does anyone have any other ideas, suggestions, or pics? :-\

I'll be posting a pic of a new bow in the next day or so. It is 48" long, about 1" wide osage self bow(rawhide backing) that bends through the handle and pulls 54#@24". This bow shoots a 460gr arrow with authority and is quite accurate(I am accurate with it) at close range.
58" to 60" for a 50# bow at 27" is quite doable. What woods do you have to work with.    Pat

Here is a post I posted earlier this year.  The bow was 52" NTN, and I've been shooting it all year.

As of right now I have some hickory and some ash.  I was thinking about trying some black locust.
