reflex and sinew

i working on a bow that has some reflex that i am putting into it...and i will be sinew backing it...my question is..can the bow lose reflex if sinew backed....i am thinking that it might depend on how much sinew...BUT,any info is good..john

Sinew backing should only add reflex, not remove it. As it cures it shrinks, pulling the bow into reflex.

unless you put the sinew on the belly of the bow then you will loose no reflex and should actually gain some!

Sinew on the belly would deflex the bow, bending it further towards the archer.

yep that's why I'm saying, unless you have no idea what a bow is and you go ahead and put sinew on you wouldn't make such a mistake. You will get more reflex.

You should gain some and also help hold what it has, :)  ioni, I can't imagine sinewing something that I had no idea what it was.  ??? :-\

Speaking from my own experince. I have found very little reflex is added after the sinew cures. Actually, I have found the sinew doesnt pull as much reflex is as you hear repeated quite often. Most needs to be heated in prior to sinewing the BACK and most needs to be induced at that same time with tip blocks or by tying the nock ends together in a turnicutt fashion.
