i meant to mention thsi earlier, but when i was at homedpot a few weeks ago, getting some oak and maple boards, i ran across a large stack of unmarked, boards, about 3/4 thick and 6 wide, and im almost sure it was ipe...... i have never seen this before so could it really be true that they stock it sometimes, or was his mabey a custom order they placed for someone, if i didnt already have a 2x6 x7ft ipe board waiting to be cut and backed i would have inquired about getting it

IPe is a decking so would now be to uncomon to see it at places like home depot or lowes for special orders.  But one other type used for decking is Cumaru Same color Same caracteristics for decking material not sure about bows though.  looking at the two you could not tell the difference really.  Both are very heavy and dense.  alot of suppliers do not carry IPe anymore due to high prices and low availability.  So alot have switched over to Cumaru.  Might be worth going back and asking.

I know last year when I was in Brazil I was told it is against the law to cut Ipe in a lot of areas now.

A while back, I saw what I thought was IPE at home depot, but found out it was veranda decking.  Not IPE, but it sure looked like it.
