Ash bow 105# 32"
« on: August 13, 2012, 11:11:42 am »
This is bow for competition, for my friend. It is white ash. Bow is almost 75" ntn, low with physical mass (722 grams), tillered to 32", drawn to 33". Low set, oval belly, not het treated, this wood is pushed to its limits. No curves, bumps, knots and waves, not very interesting for tiller.  :-\

That 32" draw and 105# makes me feel like a short armed wimp. Very nicely done Druid. Getting such a graceful tiller out of a piece of ash with that much weight and low set amazes me, you're a talented bowyer for sure.

Oh man, that bow is so LAME! Boring tiller. If it doesn't have at least twenty knots, it doesn't count as a bow, Druid!

Just kidding man. Love your tiller! I always do. Myself, I'd give the bow some personality by adding a simple leather handle and maybe some tip overlays. But such a plain stickbow as is, can also be really intimidating when someone tries to draw it.

I wish they'd had bows like that at the Olympics.
Great work as usual ...

Beautiful bow, nice to know that other woods than yew can perform that well.  Is that a little pith from the center of the log that you are showing in that one pic?

You get more from an ash bow that anybody I know. Im not so sure our ash would handle what your asking of it? Good job Druid.

That's crazy. but what if it splodes? Every muscle in your arm will just turn to mush.

Id love to see it in action, though.

Sweet bend, Druid, as usual. I bet you gave a grunt when you pulled that sucker back!! ;D

Another nice bow.  The tiller on your bows always looks great.
