Nock placement on a Recurve?
« on: August 13, 2012, 01:36:15 pm »
I'm currently working on a recurve, and my slats were only 66in. to start with...
I have put recurves in my glueup (this was a boo-ipe laminate)the recurves will work abit too. I'm worried I do not have enough room for the nocks...assuming that I want to keep the ntn distance at 64in. This is for a 50-55lb bow @ 28".
I could move the nocks down the limb abit to get a 62in ntn, but I guess I'm wondering if I'm worrying over nothing? right now the nock grooves at the back side are 5/8-3/4" from the end of my tips. I will be gluing on an overlay of antler or possibly horn.
Any advise? Sorry I don't have pics right now.

Thanks

It really shouldn't matter, anything passed the string is just added weight or for looks.  :) I usuall only go an inch down to start and wind up taking some the end off anyway. That sounds about right to me. :)
