These rocks are large just the shear weight of them of them rolling over on your fingers is enough to cut my finger open it down into the nail bed. We finally have a rain and it just started raining. That's not good because creeks fill very quickly but we're halfway back so it shouldn't be a problem.

What do you do when your pack is full and you find a great rock. Well you just carry it in your hand.

Leroy dropped half his pack on the trail so he is headed back. I am camped at the truck with all this flint and no tools lol. My old feet only wanted to make one trip. Anyway I hope you all enjoyed the photos of our outting. I will take one more when I get home of the total haul.

Did not photo the total haul but we pulled 275#. With all the work I did this summer I should have flint for points for the next few years. The dry season is just about over. The place we pulled flint will be underwater for another year. We finally have storms moving in and the creeks will rise tomorrow.

Yep it is burlington and was pulled from a layer of rock call "burlington" it is not all ice cracked because most of the time it is below the water line in a moving creek. The weather has been so dry and the water level dropped 4 feet so it exposed rock I had never seen. We could not carry it all out so we cached hundreds of pounds around the area. When the water comes up we are taking a boat out for the rest.

You can really see how low the water was in the fourth photo. It looks like we are walking in an open field but it is the river bed. It had be so dry for such a long time  that the rock bed was being covered with plant life.
