Snyders or a Lost Lake?
« on: August 06, 2012, 04:12:41 pm »
I got this one out of a pc of Dover and was trying for the Snyders look. I believe Snyders have a concave base an Lost lakes are more pointed, anyways was a fun point to work an learned a few things about setting up plat forms on my problem areas instead of a continous platforms. Thanks for looking. Bob

Well done Bob! I sure like that black rock. More like a snyders to me. Got some smaller version artifacts just like it.

I vote for a Lost Lake.  Snyders start as an egg shaped North point or blade, they become a Snyders when the notches are added.  Bear in mind that both are modern terms, due to the long tang on both types, I'll guess the ancients called them both knife blades.

Bill, I agree, more of the Lost Lake look. I did a little homework an came up with this. Snyders seem to have a big rounded notch an as you stated a concave egg shaped base. Narrow entry notchs seem to be more frequent in the Lost Lake types. Thanks for lookin an I appreciate your comments an really enjoy your PA articles. Bob
