Wish I could knap that well.  I'm sure you're proud of her as well you should be.  Good point and good video.

Well done I bet you are very proud my 5&3 year olds Hang around my pit and watch and I leave small unsharp rock in the safe zone and some hammer stones for them to play with hehe. Its cool to see another barefoot knapper tell her I have the same problem with flakes getting in my boots and to keep from cutting my leg all up I use a leather welding apron wraped aroind my leg. here are a few picks I made just for her if she wants to make something similar. the apron I own is from harber Fraight 12$ and it doubles as a knapping pad also

Fold here

Next tie it on under the knee with pocket facing in

You can still hold your tools under our leg with no problem

And it fits in my bucket/seat with tons of rocks and tools

Skyarrow, I find it a good hight for knapping period.  I've started a similar setup for myself.  Still can't get a hang on Jackcrafty's style but hopefully when he does a vid on how he holds the material and flakers, I might be able to figure it out.

Jackcrafty, I'm darkcolmar on youtube.

It's not that hard you just have to find your own way to hold the rock. I learned by watching him knap at the Tennessee classic this past spring I hold mine differently then him we all will hold and strike at different angles my bopper is shaped different then his so I hit at a different angle just expirment you will find the right placement that fits you best ;)

Mwahahahahaha!  Actually, I've been lurking for a while but never really posted anyting.  I'm gonna change that.

Skyarrow, I don't have that luxury.  I don't get out to any other knap-ins other than the local one here in Maine (University of Southern Maine Knap-in at the Gorham campas).  And no one there knaps like Patrick.
