primitive fishing points
« on: July 29, 2012, 06:53:12 pm »
Finished nine fishing points.  The five on tip are made of Ash.  The two dark ones on the lower left are dogwood.  Dogwood can be pink if cut after the tree dies.  If cut before it dies the wood is white.
The solid white one at the bottom is white-tail deer leg bone.  The yellow one is Osage orange.

The wood was heat treated to harden and then sanded.

Bigger points will be atlatl spear points, while smaller ones will be placed on some arrows.

Thanks for looking.

how appropriate that you mention that.  I am working on some cane shafts that I hope to put these points into.  I have a camping trip in couple of weekends so I hope to work on it some then.   ;)
