Another thing we used 40 years ago when I was a kid, was to wrap the points with soft wire, copper or galvanized wire works well, but before wrapping it we would drill a whole, take a galvanized nail , cut the head of and insert it in the arrow then wrap the tip and nail with the wire.
I haven't done that in years , maybe I'll make one to show all.
The wire adds weight and balances the arrow.
