Progress might have been all right once but it's gone on for far too long.

gave OP a good response in PM...basically fish meal, clay, baiting license if going to use the fishmeal....cast net..recommend 4-6 footer at most if never thrown one before...at night and rising tide with lights shining on water.

if not baiting, rising tide...watch shore birds or predator fish chasing them....throw net, empty, try again.  Takes some practice to get a full bloom on your net....and even then wind and stuff can mess it up but lots of fun done off floating dock or deck of boat with no rails or accessories to get caught in net.  Otherwise standing knee deep in water is good way...

some videos on youtube that are helpful in learning to throw a net....otherwise drive around and look for locals and ask them to teach you to throw the net then buy them a beer....win win

born and raised here in charleston....so grew up running tidal creeks in canoe...shrimping off docks....fishing...hunting....enjoying outdoors.

I left the house this morning at 5:00 a.m. with nothing in my belly but a cuppa bad coffee.  Since then I have eaten a roll of Tums and had another cup of truck stop transfer case lube.  Now Hillbilly posts those pics of pure food porn along with the Yuengling beers.  This is excruciating.

Where I grew up people did not eat shrimp ,they where just another stink bait for catfish !!
When I was old enough to travel around and foud out how good they are I wondered why we wasted our money trying to catch the fish when we could have just eaten the bait to start with !
Growing up in the backwoods was great but we sure missed out on this one !!
Have fun Cip !

Hillbilly that looks tasty!!!!

I got great advice.. Caught 20 little ones and used them for bait  :-\ No meal... Too bad they aren't easy to catch here. Fresh dead "BAIT" shrimp is $5 per pound >:D
