Here is my latest accomplishment. Its a piece of Oregon Ask, 66" tip tip-to-tip, and pulls 59# @ 29 inches. this was my first unassisted stave bow, so I'm happy with the results considering. The funnest part of this project was not using any of my power tools, was a blast. If you guys see anyway that I can improve my game just be brutal, thanks;)

It may just be the picture, but it looks like there's a slight hinge about 8" away from the handle wrap on the lower limb.  But still freakin' nice for your first stave bow!

Looks pretty slick to me.
Looks like you've got it working pretty hard for a piece of Ash, nice work.
If I gotta criticise, I'd say that as the tips look fairly thick (mind that could be perpective due to camera angle) they could go a bit narrower... But hey I'm getting really picky now.... oh yeah and the lawn needs cutting ;)

Nice work. I would bend the tips a little more to remove all string follow and heat treat the belly.

I think the little bit of follow at that bow length, draw length and poundage is admirable from a bit of Ash.
Any heat treatment and he won't be able to draw the sucker >:D

I been looking at some Oregon Ash growing over this way.  You've inspired me.  Really nice bow, good poundage and draw length.

I like it!  It looks spot on to me.  I don't know about a hinge, it is hard to tell from the pics...  Did you leave a little extra wood around a knot just below that "8" below the handle" spot?  Whatever is going on there, you got that stick of ash working good.  Did you use steam or dry heat to make your bends?

Yeah there is a small knot in that area. I don't have any experience with working around knots, so I was scared  and probably left too much wood there. The bends are done with steam, it took very well. To tell you the truth I'm amazed this bow made it; I didn't use a tillering tree (my garage is too cluttered with camping gear at the moment) so it went from floor-tillering to drawing it in front of my mirror.

here lately i've been using a mirror to tiller and also taking pics through out the process helps see any uneven spots , good job on that bow and recurving the tips.
 oh and like del said "the lawn needs cutting" j/k  >:D
