Trouble
« on: July 06, 2012, 01:45:19 pm »
Ive been wanting to make a Comanche style bow for a while and I've got a piece of Osage to make it out of. The problem comes out of that my only resource is the Internet. I have seen gull wing D section comanche bows and deflexed flat Comanche bows. While I'm sure they are all styles they would use I don't know which was the most commonly used, used in what area at what times, so yah I'm pretty lost. :-[

Do a search on Facebook for Curtis Carter Poolville Tx.  He does mostly Southern Cheyenne but I believe they are pretty close if not the same.  Good guy.  Very knowledgeable.  Send him a note and he will point you in the right direction.

Thanks, but I don't have a Facebook account :-\. After some more looking thought it seams like a gull wing is the way to go, if I'm wrong I guess I can always make another ;)

Two statements that will be false when it comes to reproducing Native American archery equipment start with:

"They always..."

or "They never..."

Build that bow and post pics, friend!  Fact is, all you need is love...and more bow porn!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
