Rawhide Backed Osage
« on: July 03, 2012, 12:41:35 am »
I finished this bow a few months back and have been constantly shooting it, even though I have been tweaking the art and grip every since. I finally decided last weekend that enough is enough and sealed it up. What I ended up with is without a doubt my fastest (and heaviest) bow to date.

Okay, I admit that the artwork is geographically confused (pseudo-native people's pattern with a celtic boar in between), but I am going to simply state "artistic license" and enjoy the result. Hope you all do as well. - Mike

Stats:
Osage backed with painted rawhide
60" t2t // 58" n2n
78#@29"
Shooting 525g arrow 180-182fps (181 average) finger release.
Grip: Wrapped with artificial sinew (later finished with brain tanned elk hide)
Original artwork done with acrylics to emulate a non-specific Native People's pattern with a Celtic Boar as a separator.

Now that is an interesting bow. How wide are the limbs? I love the art work. Where are the first set of pictures taken at?

Great job, Mike! It looks quick. Love the artwork! ;D

OH YEAH!  Very nice....rawhide makes for a good canvas.  The artwork is great.  She looks fast and is fast as you say.  Again very nice.
Happy hunting to all!
