Bow length question?
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:01:32 pm »
I have completely changed my shooting style ;D. Went from a 27 1/2" draw, to a 29 1/2" draw. If i were to build another selfbow, what bow length should i build for that long of draw? I'm afraid to pull my older bows that far. They are mainly 64" long. Thanks

68" and maybe a tad wider too.

Twice your draw length plus 10% is a good rule of thumb.

My draw length is close about 29 and I make most of mine around 62"-64". And I like a rigid handle.  8)

Depends on the wood and width of the bow, as well as design features such as tiller and stiff handle. Sure, 60 inches NTN is possibly, but not with an ash English longbow... With a sinew backed osage bend-through-the-handle bow it's a whole different story.

The width and thickness ratio are more important than just thinking about the length in my opion.
