Whych Elm
« on: June 22, 2012, 11:08:46 am »
Hi!
First bow in a while. Joined an archery club 6 months ago, been busy shooting 3d and making/crashing arrows since.
66", 35# at 28" some character, no heat treatment or bending just scraping.
I like to have someting on the back of the handle to secure the same position every time. Got the idea from another bow I made which had a big knot on the handle. Some pics..the last from our 3d track yesterday when I first tried the bow. Shoots pretty good, not my best. Tillering was tricky not sure I succeeded completely.

Good job I like it. That is a nice idea with holding the bow the same similar to a locator grip I would think?

Like the look of that. What type of bark is the handle wrapped in?
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.

Badly, it's Birch bark (Silver Birch) there are other kind of Birch that has better bark for this type of thing, not where I live unfortunately.

Nice looker. I like the way the handle turned out, too!
