I go from throat of the grip,and most are around 8 inches,more or less,I set them at 8 /8 1/2 if I don't know for sure and then move it up and down a little till it shoots and sounds the best.

Technically it's the string to the deepest part of the grip, but measure whatever's easiest and consistant. That looks pretty low for a recurve, most I've tried seemed to favor the 8-8.5" range.

took on a string and arrow job on this one and im not to familiar with recurves ....learn somthing new every day!
